The GE microwave continues to heat (cup of water gets hot) with a continuous hum after it has been turned off and door closed. The control panel does not respond. When the door opens, everything stops (no humming, no heat) and light comes on. This happened before and after a few days, the microwave worked normally. We could not find the schematics inside the control panel. What could be the problem and are there schematics available on line?
Thanks

Remove the control panel and look for an envelope with the wiring information.

In order to provide most accurate advise we need the rest of the model number.

Thanks Gene, there is no envelope with wiring information behind the control panel (we checked), but the model number inside the Microwave is: JKP76GOV1BB. It's a built in combination electric oven with microwave on top. The oven portion works. Any insights will be appreciated.

Most likely the problem is a bad control board.

Also I would recommend to check the door switches.

- The part number for the control board is AP2025119

How do you check the door switches ? Also, if the control board is not the right one, is there a return policy? Thanks. Went ahead and ordered the part anyways.

Open the control panel, remove wires from the switch before testing.

The interlock switch should be open with the door open and closed when the door is closed.

The monitor switch should be closed with the door open and open with the door closed.

We replaced the control board as you suggested and the microwave is working properly again. There was an initial hum but it went away after we opened and closed the door. Thank you for you assistance - this was most helpful, and saved us from having to pay extra for a technician to come!

I'm glad you were able to fix it.
