Has a leak coming from the area of the shaft in the bottom of the tub. Seems to be during the agitate cycle.

Sounds like a bad stem seal. Usually on newer machines (newer than 10 years) you can get away with changing just the mounting stem and tub seal, but sometimes you also have to change the bearing. This job requires a special spanner wrench.

You need to replace both the seal and the sleeve bearing. Go to web site applianceaid.com for info on this dependable care washer.
