I have a whirlpool duet washer. The water is not draining. I was told that I need to check the pump and the filter. How do I drain the water in the tub before I remove the cap?

lean the washer back against the wall at about a 45 degree angle, take off bottom panel and there should be a round piece of the pump that screws off that you can clean out... i think this is how these are...
