My dryer suddenly stopped working. I can tell there is power and I can hear the timer making a clicking sound, but the dryer will not turn on. I have already replaced the on/off switch but this did not work. Any other thoughts?

Check for continuity between the "BK" & "BU" and the "T" & "W" timer terminals while the timer in "ON" position. Post the results.

Here is the Wiring sheet.

ok I tested as you recomended with the following results:

"BK" and "BU" showed no reading with the timer set to "ON".
With the timer off I got as reading of 120V

"T" and "W" showed no readings at all.

Also on a recomendation I took the initiative to change the thermal fuse and the problem still exists.

Did you run a continuity test?

The following article on our forum will explain in detail how to run a continuity test using either an analog meter or a digital meter - How To Check Continuity With Ohmmeter

okay thanks my bad.

I switched the meter to ohms and got the following:

With the timer on
"BK" "BU" read 0
"T" "W" gave me a negative number which was jumping all over

With the timer off:
"BK" "BU" read negative numbers around 180
"T" "W" read 0

Hi Gene, just wondering if you have any thoughts on the latest? I'm still wondering what could be causing this???

Have you unplug the dryer prior to the test?

A negative numbers on Ohms scale sounds weird.

I unplugged the unit and retested.

BK-BU read 0
T-W read 1 on the meter which was unchanged from where it started.

These results show that there is probably nothing wrong with the timer. You said earlier that you replaced the on/off switch. Which part did you mean? Can you use the reference number from the diagram?

It would have been Item# 39 on the diagram for the Top and Console.
