For the second time we have come home from work to find that our ice maker got stuck in the fill process. It filled the ice catching box, the bottom of the freezer, the bottom of the fridge, ran across the kitchen floor and made a huge mess in our basement.

Both times this has happened, I believe the freezer was packed with food and the cold air could not circulate properly. This is just a guess. Can it be true?

Is there a water valve that can be put on the supply line that will only allow a certain amount of water in the ice maker?

Most likely the water inlet valve in the fridge got stuck open. The part has to be replaced.

In order to provide the right part number I need the complete model of the fridge.

Gene.
