My maytag washer fills properly, then starts to spin instead of agitating, causing water to splash out the top. The motor reverses like it should for the spin cycle and the belts look fine. The brake doesn't seem to be working either.

when you put it in spin, does it pump out and spin? if so, you need a trans.

It does spin and pump out in spin cycle. Is the trans. hard to rebuild?
