I have the Kitchen Aid KUDS01FLSS5 and last night after hearing a loud klang from the dishwasher I realized the door spring had given way. After doing some searching this seems to be a common problem in many common dishwashers with a tensioned door.

I did a search in the parts section and my machine was not listed but the KUDS01FLSS2 is. Are these models similar enough that the door spring (AP3085283) and the Door Balance Link kit (AP3775412) would be the same?

Would it be recommended to replace both springs and the links while I am down there? Any other maintainance I should be looking at doing since I will be working on it anyway?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

You were right. This is exactly the same door balance links with the part number AP3775412.

It's coming as a set of two kits for both sides. It is recommended by the manufacturer to install all parts from the set.

I do not think you need the springs. I never seen them broken.

The dishwasher has to be removed from the cabinet for about 20" to access all parts.

I would recommend to install the rope cables with the door closed. Do not remove the not broken rope cable before you replaced the broken one.

Start from the door pin, then attach the other end to the spring. Using a pliers pull the spring together with the cable toward the front of the dishwasher and put the cable through the rollers.

Gene.

I have a kitchenaid washer and the rope for the door tension has come out of the plastic part that holds the end of the rope near the door. The part is broken so I can not string the rope through this part. Where do I get a replacement part and what is it called? thanks

Hello Gene,

Is it easy to tell how the door balance links are installed. Both of mine are broken on my kitchenaid dishwasher. I have ordered new ones, and was wondering how they are routed thru the pulleys. I dont have the other side to look at as they are both broken.
thank you
Robert
