Hello all,

My machine is a Performa, and it just started acting up yesterday. It fills correctly but when it gets to the spin cycle, it makes a really loud grinding type noise and will not spin, nor drain. Any help would be appreciated. Working on a small budget here. :)

Let's hope the problem is in the pump. Take it off and check it out, and check for any obstruction or damage in the pump.

Here is a service manual which will show you how.

and here is a tech bulletin on the new type of pump. Presumably Maytag redesigned the pump because of problems, and hopefully that is your problem, because otherwise you are looking at transmission/brake issues, which is not good.
