During agitation the agitator is wobbling off center. What is the cause for that?

Thanks,

George

The cause could be a worn out agitator spline or a broken transmission.

For more accurate advise I need the complete model number of the washer. "20982" is not a valid model number.

Hi George,

Remove the top portion of the agitator (the procedure described in the one of my previous posts - http://forum.appliancepartspros...-auger-not-spinning.html) and remove the bottom part of the agitator by pulling it straight up.

Inspect the splines inside the bottom part of the agitator and the transmission shaft for worn grooves.

Replace the part which has the grooves worn out.

Also check if the transmission shaft is moving from side to side or up and down. If it does - the transmission has to be replaced.

- The part number for the agitator kit is AP3094556

- The part number for the transmission (gear case) is AP3096209
