Last night, when I turned the key on my 18" Kitcheaid trash compactor, it only made a "humming" noise, like it wanted to do something, but the ram never dropped down.

I tried unplugging and re-plugging, but that didn't help.

today i repaired mine doing same thing, my model was a
kitchen aid kucc151gss1 , the model number is left of trash shoot- anyway, removed compactor, tipped to side, removed bottom cover(need 1/4 inch tool ) then saw the bolt had fallen off that holds the chain on- had to remove other bolt with gear to put chain back on........easy fix- cost me nothing- hope this helps !
