Our fridge is only 4 yrs. old, and we replaced the ice maker about 2 yrs. ago. Now the ice maker is trying to work, like trying to dump, but nothing is there. There is no water coming into the ice maker. We have no idea where to even start looking to fix the problem and are wanting to try and save some money by doing it ourselves if possible. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start. If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water. Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

We filled the maker w/water and it dumped. We switched the wires and no water went into the ice maker so we replaced the water inlet valve. Now we've put a very little amount of water in the ice maker to "start the cycle" but it is doing nothing. How do we make the "cycle start" or make the center arm rotate to dump the ice that is in there? We've tried shutting it off and turning it back on, it's been over 24 hrs. and still nothing. What do we need to do now?
