I replaced the fuse in this microwave and as soon as I tried to start the cooking process it made a loud humming noise and blew the fuse again. How do I check the Magnetron and/or transformer to see if either of these are bad? I am sure I will need to discharge the capacitor before doing any work in the cabinet.

The first thing I would do is check the capacitor after discharging it. If you need more info then post the complete model number of the microwave. Gene.

Thanks, I will do this. The Model Number for this MW is FMT118EP8.
PS. Do you know if there is a transformer available for this model? I was looking on an appliance parts website and it mentioned that this was discontinued. I wouldn't want to invest in a Magnetron and/or capacitor and not be able to fix the transformer later.

The magnetron cannot be grounded between the terminals and the mag itself. Remove the wires to the mag and check for continuity between the 2 terminals. If open the mag is defective. Check each terminal to mag if either terminal is shorted to the mag then the mag is defective. Next check the cap and diode. Some ms theory

Availability on the original transformer is not very important because you can use an universal one. The model number you posted does not come up. Gene.
