Our dishwasher has had some of the same problems as others - mainly the countdown sticking at "1", sometimes water remaining in the bottom, and sometimes the cycles taking for ever. I've checked the control panel and there are no burnt spots, and from time to time, the dang thing actually works like it's supposed to. With so many possibilities, does anyone have an idea or where/what to check? I've read about the control panel, but hate to order and replace this part and it not work (correctly read as wife would have my head). Any help is greatly appreciated!

really check the control module... very rare that you have a heater problem .. do you have an amp meter ? you'll need it in order to diagnose problem better... a volt meter would also be helpful

I've just run another cycle with a thermometer in the silverware holder. It doesn't appear that the temp has made it over about 95. Does this still hold true? D

actual water temp should be between 120- 140 F. turn hot water on at sink /you shoud see steam pretty quickly .and steam when you open d/w door ,if not water is not hot enough. i still feel control module may be problem

if you have a thermometer that you could leave in the d/w , (w/o running hot water in sink , as it is easier to see a temp change ) Must check 10 minutes after soap dispenser opens. check the difference between water temp at the pre-rinse and then 12 minutes after the dispenser opens .. if you have a substantial rise in temp, module and heater are ok..

O.K. if you don't mind, and I hope it's not a stupid question, but how does one know when the dispenser opens to start the timer for 12 minutes?

i close the dispenser and if you pop it open yourself you'll recognize that same sound after a little while... this means you'll need to stay in the kitchen after you start d/w... but once you hear the dispenser door pop open, you should wait a while and you can usually see a 1-2 rise in temp per minute ( 90 sec depending on incoming voltage ) .. mind you do not put detergent in d/w for this test ...
