I have a whirlpool estate gas dryer that will not heat. i have replaced the ignitor but that did not help. Any suggestions on what to try next.

Pull the dryer of the wall, unplug the power cord, remove the vent hose from the dryer and remove the back panel. According to the bulkhead parts break down diagram start the troubleshooting from the thermal fuse (#7). Remove at least one wire from the thermal fuse and check the continuity across terminals. If the thermal fuse is open it has to be replaced together with the cycling thermostat (#9). If this is not an issue, go to the flame sensor(#49) and perform the same continuity test. Replace if it's open. - The part number for the thermal fuse AP3132867- The part number for the cycling thermostat AP3131939 - The part number for the flame sensor is AP2910747 - Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool Estate dryer Model TGDS840JQ0 Good luck and Happy New year. Gene,
My dryer problem is: it ignites the gas , then within 2 min flame its shuts off (some heat are observed), the motor is still working, after min or two the igniter starts again , BUT then shut off without igniting the gas
I did replaces thermal fuse (#7) together with the cycling thermostat (#9) and flame sensor(#49) .
And it did not help me. Same result.
Please advise.

It did not help because the problem most likely is a bad gas valve coils. If you need the correct part number then post the complete model number of the dryer.

main the two terminal coil AP3041626 $23.75 secondary three terminal coil AP3041625. $23.75 Can I use the kit consisting both coils [URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/ctrfs.aspx?pn_=AP3094251&&&model_id=264778&diagram_id=114845"]AP3094251 for $14.89 ? As you can see its a big difference in $$$ between a kit and single coils. Also, how hard is to disassemble a burner? Thanks for any tips.

I have a very similar problem to the one that was just solved here. The igniter seems to work, turning bright red for about 10 seconds, however it does not ignite any gas. I checked all the thermostats, thermal fuse, and flame sensor. All check out for continuity. Would the gas valve coils be the culprit here? I read somewhere that it may be the igniter also, as it may not be heating enough to allow the valves to open???

Thanks for you help Most likely the problem is a bad gas valve coils. What ever you read about igniter probably was about oven igniter. Oven igniter and dryer igniter work very different. Dryer igniter usually has only two stages: glow or not. Gene.
