Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 1/18/2008(UTC) Posts: 3		This may sound like I am really stupid, but I need to replace the lid safety switch on my washer. I purchased the part from Roper, but I am having a heck of a time getting the washer top open...in the past they have always opened along the front edge with the tap of an inserted putty knife. I called Roper and they wouild not tell me how to open the top...go figure. Can anyone slove this mystery? :confused:

Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Senior Expert Joined: 12/14/2007(UTC) Posts: 72		Don't try to take the top off..It's changed from the older styles. You need to remove the cabinet. Take the 2 screws out from each side of the console.(they are in 3 different locations) When the screws are out, lightley pull the console to you and it will hinge back.Next, remove the 2 brass "S" clips from both sides, disconnect the connector at the top, now tilt the cabinet forward and off the base. I hope this helps.
