This may sound like I am really stupid, but I need to replace the lid safety switch on my washer. I purchased the part from Roper, but I am having a heck of a time getting the washer top open...in the past they have always opened along the front edge with the tap of an inserted putty knife. I called Roper and they wouild not tell me how to open the top...go figure. Can anyone slove this mystery?

Don't try to take the top off..It's changed from the older styles. You need to remove the cabinet. Take the 2 screws out from each side of the console.(they are in 3 different locations) When the screws are out, lightley pull the console to you and it will hinge back.Next, remove the 2 brass "S" clips from both sides, disconnect the connector at the top, now tilt the cabinet forward and off the base. I hope this helps. I believe there is an info. sheet at this site somewhere to show how to do this.Try this link here..wrench http://appliancejunk.com...p?topic=68.msg213#msg213

Thank you Wrench. The video was helpful, but the part I am replacing is still attached to the top of the machine. Do I have to stand on my head and pinch my fingers to replace it?
