Your model looks like the basic Whirlpool top loader. (Whirlpool owns Maytag now). In this situation you do not take off the back, you take off the cabinet.

Take out the two screws that hold the console to the top and flip it back. Then disconnect the lid switch and use a screw driver to take out the two clips that hold the cabinet to the back. The cabinet will now tilt forward and come off, giving you access to the drain hoses.
