Gene,

Regarding the temp at the top of the evaporator coil, I just mean that the thermometer I'm using is sitting right next to the fan above the coil.

I saw another post in another thread that said something about the temp of the air coming off the coil should be -10 or so. I haven't seen it get that low on mine. Right now, it's about 15.

I can put it back together, but seems to me I've still got an issue.

Gene.
P.S. Never heard about measuring temperature on top of the evaporator - does not make any sense.

It should be hot enough to make a sizzling sound after it was on for 10-15 minutes.

Without the rear panel in place there is no proper air flow and cold air is not circulating. There is no proper heat exchange also. The thermometer has to be in a middle of the freezer and the refrigerator has to be on for about 24 hours prior to temperature test. Otherwise the thermometer reading does not mean anything.

Gene,

The freezer's been between -6 and -2 since I put it back together. The fridge has been about 44-46.

Have you checked the air flow from the air diffuser (#15 on the diagram)? If the temperature in the refrigerator is not good enough - it should be completely open.

- The air diffuser Part number: AP3046080
Part number: AP3046080

Gene,

As mentioned in my earlier posts, I've replaced the diffuser and the thermostat that controls it.

Have you checked the air flow from the air diffuser recently?

Check it how?

Just check to see if the diffuser is open?

...ok just did that, it is open (stuck a letter opening into it) and I feel air flow. It doesn't feel like a lot of air..but I wouldn't know one way or the other.

Is it possible that the vent from the fridge to the freezer is restricted somehow (by ice maybe)? I've checked to make sure there's no food around it. Unfortueatly, unlike the diffuser the vent isn't straight through.

Thanks Gene,
Charles

Gene,
I have a Frigidaire Model FRT18FR7EQ7. Freezer working OK (top Freezer) fridge part 9bottom) not cold enough. All the defrost system is working correctly, however, I open the freezer back panel and noticed that the evaporator fan is not working (turning) and therefore no cool air is felt coming into the fridge. Both the return air and where the cool air is suppose to come out are cleared (no ice). Do you think it's just a matter of changing the evaporator fan motor? or could it be something else?
Thanks in advance.
