Scott Hi Scott, Pull the refrigerator out of the wall, remove the back cover and clean the condenser. Make sure the fan motor next to the compressor is running properly. If there is nothing wrong then possible the sealed (cooling) system is low on Freon or the compressor is not pumping properly. If the refrigerator is less than 5 years old than it could be under the manufacturer warranty. It has to be tested by a certified technician. Gene.

I removed the rear plate yesterday and cleaned the condenser ( Capacitor?). I cleaned the coils last week in the course of housecleaning. Is it possible the defrost timer is stuck in the defrost cycle, due to a bad timer or thermostat? Why are the door seals hot?

Chuck,
If the compressor is running then there is nothing wrong with the defrost timer. Have you checked the fan motor next to the compressor?

What was the original problem with your refrigerator?
Which part did you call "defrost sensor"? Can you refer to the diagrams?

Gene. I pulled the cover back off and the fan nest to the compressor was not running. I gave it a nudge and it ran for a few seconds, with much noise, and then quit. Can that be the sole problem?

Gene-
Thanks for the reply. Sorry I forgot to indicate-I pulled the unit away from the wall and cleaned everything in back. Compressor was warm to touch and seemed to be humming. fan was also spinning. After plugging it back in, (now been 6 hours) it's working-freezer cold,making ice and fridge getting cold. So this may just be a temporary fix and it may frost up again?
Could there still be a problem with the closed system? Not that adapative control assy?? Confused a bit...can you advise?
