My Spacemaker HVM1540 microwave turntable runs when the microwave isn't in use. I noticed this a few days ago. It seems to run all the time. I'm afraid the motor is going to burn out or it will overheat and cause a fire. Its only been in use for a little over a year and isn't heavily used. I tried unplugging, turning the turntable on/off button to off then on again a few times, running the microwave, and clearing/cancelling. It will stop when the door is opened, but runs once the door is shut. For now I have it unplugged. Very strange. I tried the GE site but no help. What do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like either a bad switch or board relay; or a short somewhere in the turntable motor circuit.

If your microwave is operating without user interface, check out the national class action lawsuit filed against GE. Go to Home for more information.
