Hello All,
New here, I am a Car guy, hence the user name.

My microwave started sparking and burned a hole through what is listed as a Canopy, Mica, part number 1475 covers the microwave emitter with 1 screw inside on right of interior.

A, is this common?
B, What causes this and anything to be concerned about?
C, Should I just replace it and move on or is there another problem?

Also about 1 year after installing this microwave, the interior bulb blew out, I have not been able to find it listed in the parts schematics, the closest I found was called a holder 1207, does it use the halogen bulb listed as 282, also used underneath the microwave?

How difficult is it to gain access to replace this bulb?

Ted.

I don't answer to ambulance chasers, get a life.

I am happy to report I replaced the Mica panel and my microwave works perfect.

food stains get extremely hot and eat away at the mica and cause hot spots, I would recommend replacing the panel if it gets a stain on it that normal washing will not remove.

Thanks for all the quick and accurate responses.
