My portable a/c unit for our bedroom is producing more water than it ever has. We use to empty the tank maybe once a summer and once I hooked it up this year I am emptying it every three hours. Confused and I need help! It is on the correct mode of a/c and produces good cooling. A thought I had was to disconnect the one duct from the window and plug the unit hole also. Only leaving the discharge tube out the window. The unit has the ability, I believe, to draw air in from the back side of the unit. Is this an option?

Don't know if your still having the problem but my air con unit is like yours portable and i have it standing in my room, i had it for a year and no water at all and then all of a sudden i am emptying it every 3 or 4 hours after looking at manuals and what not i realised that it may have been the hot weather we were having. Recently we have had a heatwave and humidity levels have been very high, this can affect the amount of water produced my your air con and is why you may need to empty it more also air con units have different specs for different countries and in the UK very rarely do we get high humidity and heatwave so air cons have to work harder to keep rooms cool and as a result create more water so basically has the weather where you are been warmer and more humid? if yes this is most likely what is causing the excess water. Hope this helps. :)

now i have been searching and reading to find out where the water normally goes in the first place. i read that on one unit it works like this. water gathers in the drainage chamber and then is sqirted onto the compressor turning into steam. then the steam is blown out the exgast. my guess is the sqirt mechanisum stoped working.
