Never having worked with a dryer I wondering how difficult it would be to solve the following: My dryer has a constant squeek while running along with an occassional thunk any suggestions?

Hi Squeek Noises are very hard for us to diagnose, because they way we do it is to take off some of the cabinet (in your case it would be the top of the dryer) and listen for them. Obviously we cannot do that in your case. That being said my experience with the GE's is that the rear bearing is usually causing the problem. It is a fairly easy replacement, but you will have to take off the top, front, unhook the belt and take out the drum. Here is the part.
