Just moved intoan older home with a real clean looking Tappan range/oven. It is a manual unit with knobs for ON Off and temp control. When set to 325, oven runs up to 450-475. I checked with fluke temp meter and probe.
I can't seem to find any info on the web on this model, Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Joe,

Most likely the problem is a bad oven thermostat. The model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it.

If the model number you posted is correct then try to get all numbers from the original oven thermostat and post them.

Gene.

The model is correct, I looked again to make sure. the temperature control on the over has DT1-40-42, 318059100A and 15A 277VAC. Is that the numbers I need.
