I have read dozens of posts here and cannot solve my problem.Washer fills with water but does not agitate, spin nor drain. When I try to cycle it to a spin and drain there is a loud clank but no other action except the timer counting down.
I ran through the diagnostics for the panel, motor and cap all are within specs. Also removed pump (is fine) motor (the coupling is fine). I can spin the coupling at the transmission clockwise and the tub turns but I cannot turn the agitator bottom. What should I do next?

turn the shaft on the transmission counter clock wise to see if it turns.

Yes, it does turn the agitator.

OK. AS this thing is driving me crazy I decided to hookup the motor outside of the machine and try and cycle the machine so the motor would spin. When I put it on the drain/spin cycle I hear the same loud clunk when I push the lid switch (which I also removed from the cabinet) but the motor does not spin! I checked the capacitor with an OHM meter and it seems fine.
Any thought please.

Does the motor turn over easy by hand? seems to me that your motor is locking up. If you hear the clunk with the motor off the machine.

I went back and started from the beginning. After redoing the panel diagnostics and running tests on the agitation cycles as per the troubleshooting guide I discover a 0 voltage reading on the panel P7 and P9 pins so apparently the main circuit board is bad. I ahould have known because the dryer panel also went bad do to a faulty wall socket.

Hi - I have just experienced the exact same problem on the same washer - no agitate, spin or drain, and a clunk, like it wants to work. Paul (or anyone else), how did you fix yours - was this a board failure, or was it maybe a gearbox problem? If it's the board, then I might go ahead and get a new board. Yes, it's a Catalyst washer. The clunk sound I mentioned is the normal, rather loud sound that the washer makes when changing functions, like agitate stop, spin start etc. Maybe the solenoid?
