For a while now our washer has been emitting a rapid, moderately loud tapping noise when in the spin cycle. It seems the drum has a lot of lateral travel and the hose on the side of the drum may be hitting the side of the cabinet. Also a while ago I changed out the water pressure switch as full loads would cause an overflow in water. Again it may be that the lateral movement of the drum is so great it is causing so much motion that water is sloshing out. What could be causing this? Do the drum retaining springs eventually get weak, go bad? Bearings?
thanks in advance for your response

The first thing I would do is remove the front panel and inspect all suspension and moving parts. Post your findings. - Here are the break down diagrams for the Amana washer Model LW8253WGood luck and Happy New year. Gene.
