The lid switch is definitely bad and has to be replaced without any additional tests. Hopefully the new lid switch will fix all problems.

I have replaced the lid switch, and my washer is working fine again. After removing the cabinet, I did not remove the switch because I was looking for information on how to bypass the lid switch after unplugging it. When I removed the lid switch from the cabinet, I noticed it was cracked, probably from years of banging the lid on the switch:(. Now everyone in the household has received training on how to properly close the lid after opening it!:)

I'm glad to hear it's up and running. Hopefully with such training :) it will last much longer.
