Roper washer won't complete cycle for Super Size Load

I purchased my Roper washer about 1 1/2 years ago (so no longer under warranty). Now, if I run a Super Size load, it stops after the agitation (right when the timer hits the rinse cycle). If you lift the lid and put it back down it won't continue either, you have to manually advance the timer to the spin cycle. If I'm doing a medium or small load, it'll complete without a hitch. I made sure the washer was level, but it makes no difference.
I'm hoping it's an easy fix ... I just had a Roper dryer go out on me (that was about 2 years old) that I had to replace, now the washer is going out. Are Roper's really this bad?
Thanks in advance =)
Ron

Hi Ron First of all I think you made a really good decision to buy a Roper. Roper is Whirlpool's value brand meaning it is a Whirlpool product at a much lower price. Most of the components are the same as you would get in a much more expensive Whirlpool product. With respect to your problem, I would suggest replacing the timer, because I cannot think of any other component which would cause your problem. Here is the part, it is inexpensive and a very easy repair. Part number: AP3855066
Let us know what you do and if this fixes things.
