Our washer is not moving to the next cycle on its own (wash to spin to rinse, etc.). We can do it by turning the timer knob ourselves... Does this mean that the TIMER is bad???

Yes, most likely the problem is a bad timer. - The part number for the timer is AP2106878 Here are the break down diagrams for the Gibson washer Model GWS645RBS3Gene.
