Try thawing it out with a hair dryer.

Sorry! Do not understand your suggestion. How does thawing with a hairdryer help in removing at control panel? Of course it is early in the morning. According to what I have read, you should push up on the panel and pull out to remove. No ice here to thaw. Appreciate your help

The hair dryer will make the inner plastic softer and make it easier to remove the cover.

OK. I am looking at the solenoid. Check out the pictures. I see rust and some wet spots

As the screws are rusted, where can I find a diagram with part numbers for ordering replacement screws for the solenoid and ice dispenser door? What about the moisture around the door and solenoid? Is wiping it dry good enough?

Solenoid really rusted. Not sure where the water came from or how. See pictures.

Installed the new solenoid and plunger. Works much better, however the ice dispenser door remains open. When touched it closes. Before, it would not close even with coaxing. So long as I remember to reach my hand to the door and touch it so it closes shut, it will hopefully not warm up the freezer. I consider it 90% fixed. Would not be satisfied if this were some else's freezer.
