I have a GE Model GTDP180ED0WW that is about 2years old. The dryer will start when you hold down the start button but stop when released. I believe its the dryer control timer (Part Number WE4M364) but am not sure and the part is $65 any thoughts before I order the part?

It's not the timer. It's either the belt switch (idler switch) or the motor switch, most likely the belt switch. Switch is next to the motor and is activated by the belt idler assembly. Switch should be closed during normal operation. Check continuity of switch or jump it out as a test.
