I have a Frigidaire FWS845GCS0 Gallery Washing machine. It was in storage for three years and recently we moved back into our house and have begun using the machine again. There is a small slow water leak coming from the bottom of the machine.

To characterize the amount of leakage: For three loads of laundry, I sponge up about one pint of water. When the machine is done with a wash cycle, it drips steadily for a couple of hours and then stops. It will stay dry until the next use the machine.

I took the front panel off of the machine and can observe, while the machine runs, that the leak is coming from a while plastic “trough” designed to channel water. The “trough”, as I call it, molded into a white plastic assembly that sits on top of the motor between the pump and the motor. The pump motor assembly on this model Frigidaire is located in the lower right front of the machine. The pump is a direct drive style pump.
The leak stops at various times during a wash cycle. For troubleshooting purposes, this can be characterized as follows:

Fill – about ½ way through the initial fill cycle the leak begins and is a slow drip about once per second

1st Wash cycle. As the machine transitions to the first wash cycle, (agitators cycles back and forth) there is initially a fast drip (almost like a burst)and then the leak stops and there is no dripping during the remainder of the 1st wash cycle.
1st Rinse/Spin. Again as the machine transitions there is a momentary fast drip and then it stops

2nd fill cycle – about ½ way through the fill the leak starts and is steady maybe two drops per second.

2nd Wash cycle – Again as the machine transitions there is a brief fast leak and then it stops during the remainder of the wash (agitation).

2nd Rinse/spin. Brief leak during transition and then it stops.

At the conclusion of the entire wash cycle, the machine continues to leak. In fact the bulk of the leakage occurs over the next 2-3 hours. It presents a regular and steady drip – once per second-that ultimately tapers off and stops.

I suspect the pump itself or the pump “slinger” (black rubber gasket like part) or both.

Welcome the advice from the experts in troubleshooting this.

Thanks in Advance

Hey, it seems like since the washer set up for such a period of time, the water hoses attached to the water pump may have cracked (due to dry rotting). It may be something that you need to look into. It would be very cost effective and probably easy to fix.
