Unit 12-13 years old. Lights go on. No cooling in either r/f. No motor, fan, ice machine sounds for last 24 hours. Guest in my home said it stopped several days ago, restarted on own and then stopped again after a couple days.

I've replaced a capacitor in years past. Minimal handyman skills. Does this sound like something that a novice can fix (like the capacitor / restart module).
Not sure how long this appliance should last.

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool ED25TEXHW00 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Try turning the thermostat up/down a bit to see if it fires up.

If this does nothing it could be that you are stuck in a defrost cycle.
With a flat screwdriver turn the defrost timer (item 6 in the Control Parts section) cam. It will only turn in one direction. Usually there is a hole in the cover that will let you do this without any dis-assembly.
Make sure that the thermostat is not at off.
If it fires up replace the timer.
