Regarding the WB30X305 its details include: both 236 V / 1425 W and 250 V / 1600W.
Please explain the difference between the two surface units and why two voltages and wattages are listed for the WB30X305.
I really appreciate your patience and time. Paloco, These are the ratings mantioned in one of the previous post. Basically the WB30X142 element, at 250 VAC(+/- 10 %) will produce 1600 watts of power or approximately 5,450 BTU of heat. The WB30X305 at 236 VAC will produce 1425 watts of power or approximately 4,850 BTU of heat, or at 250 VAC will produce 1600 watts and approximately 5,450 BTU of heat. The higher the Wattage or BTU rating, the "quicker" the element performs. With basic electric range power supply (220/240 VAC / 50 amp circuit) You won't see a "major" change in cooking times with either element, As you'll only produce approximately 1,425 watts / 4,850 btu's of heat, at 240 VAC.

John M., I am pleased with all your help and will definitely recommend this site to others. By the way, I did ask some questions that you did not answer (likely due to my several posts instead of one), but I wanted you to know that: 1) My problem with the partially-lit surface units was corrected when I switched the red and black wires around. 2) I was able to obtain the original surface unit ids by looking at old ones I still have. For your reference they are (8") WB30X147 (6") WB30X138. Thank you so much for your assistance and time. I appreciate both! Paloco

Paloco Paloco, I forgot to thank you for the diagram, I did miss it the first time around. All your part numbers you listed do match the numbers listed in the parts diagram we have from the manufacturer. Of course the parts all "substitute" to updated parts 8" element 30X354 and 6" elements to WB30X356. Most manufacturers do not "re assign" part numbers to new parts products. We had begun to wander if you were "restoring" the range, or just wanted it to operate properly. Which, based on your last post statement "1) My problem with the partially-lit surface units was corrected when I switched the red and black wires around." indicates a loose or weak connection at the element connection (presumably). What occurred was you reversed L1 and L2 , which shouldn't affect the operation, anyway, but probably tightenned up and properly seated the wires to the terminals for proper power transferral. You may want to go through and recheck or tighten all the element connections on all the burner elements. It sounds like we're on track at this point, but if something does come up, drop us a line.We appreciate the confidence you have in our Forum, and We're Happy if your Happy.

Joe M., You are welcome for the wiring diagram of my range. And, yes, I have been in the process of getting my range to function properly as it is a built-in type, works well for me, and its classic style fits the style of my kitchen. My desire to know the original MPNs of the surface units was in case I came across NOS somewhere. I do also like to keep my appliances as close to their original functions as possible--such as re-installing the "extra hi-speed" surface unit. Speaking of that unit does it need to be installed in the front right receptacle? I do not perceive any difference in its switch or wiring. Paloco

Paloco Paloco, That's what I thought, more or less. Just wasn't sure how far you wanted to take it, it can get prohibitive and expensive when it comes to "obsolete" and discontinued parts, and was hoping to not dissapoint you . Yes, you will want to install the " extra hi-speed" surface unit in the right front receptacle, even though the switch and wiring aren't different. Keep it original. Most newer appliances use a similar set up as well. "Specialty" burners are usually in the right front burner area when a range is designed. Everything is going to be fine.

Joe M.,
Thank you for the information--I am glad to know that there is a certain corner of the rangetop where specialty units are typically placed and will follow your advice when installing my "extra hi-speed" one.
It is interesting to know that some current models use the same general arrangement of surface units as vintage ones.
Again, I am a very happy and satisfied recipient of the information you have provided me, your professionalism, and the efficiency in which you have responded. In addition, I have appreciated your expertise and willingness to answer questions regarding my vintage appliance instead of just telling me that it is too old to keep using due to its limited parts availability (albeit I'm sure the day will come when the parts are no longer available).
You provide an EXCELLENT service!
Paloco

Joe M., If possible, would you attach a copy of the parts diagram (with the MPNs) for my range for my future reference? Paloco
