gene and trent--i am having and have for sometime a similar problem--the MW acts normally but does not heat---sometimes--it will kick on --you can hear trhe distinctive sound---and then will stop heating, steathily, and we discover it is not been hot. put popcorn in and sometimes it will start up heating stopping sometime during the cycle---sometimes it wint start at all. i have tried starting and stopping the MW and sometimes that works---other times does not. have had an experienced repairman try his magic and he is stumped--thermostats--twice--and other parts all to no avail---any suggestions?

Is it likely the magnetron or the diode that needs to be replaced?? 2. Where are these parts located in the microwave ? Do I need to pull out the microwave-oven combo from the wall to test and check these parts? Please advise.
