well it did get the carpet soaked but I think alot ran thru the big hole in the floor under the washer but the carpet was soaked but again is drying..

My dishwasher has a 2ft hole under it too but im not sure I could get a pan under it anyway......where did you buy the dishwasher pan ??

The one for my min stackable washer is like 60.00

Do these valves ever fail when the water is on ?? If so and it was pumping full pressure it could be a problem in less than an hour so if you were gone for half a day.....

Or when they fail is it usually after the spin cycle and you would hear it filling..or is it when they are just shut off sitting and BAM

I did not buy a pan.
The wife had a large heavy aluminum foil throw away pan.
Sort of like the ones you buy to do a turkey on but is was about 20X20 with 1 inch high sides. I just put a jiggery pokeried a fitting on the bottom so it lined up with the hole I drilled in the floor. I then hooked a hose to the fitting because my dishwasher is right over my dryer in the basement and I had to get ay problem water away from the dryer.

The valve can go at just about any time luckily they do not do this very often. They usually fail by not opening.

i had put a hole in the bottom of my bath vanity and down thru the floor into the cellar and ran a pc of 1-1/4" hose a year ago so IF anything ever leaked under there it would just run down thru the hose on the cellar floor, I just did the same thing today under my kitchen sink cabinet, and im going to buy the pan for under the washer....Again my dishwasher has a big hole under it now so that just leaves the fridge :)
