So I troubleshot and at first everything seemed to work but obviously it was just a temporary fix. I defrosted the freezer and it worked for a good month but now it's back to getting warm again. The defrost timer is fine and now it's between the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. I couldn't even get to the heater since it was frozen over with ice. Could that mean that the defrost heater is definitely the part to replace? Please let me know. I was debating just ordering both the heater and thermostat and replacing both.

I would replace both of them, especially because the parts are inexpensive and it'll make this repair more reliable.

O one more thing. I was going to order the parts on line since I can't find a store near me. Have you ever heard of **********************************************.com? I was going to order from them since the prices are half of what GE charges and I figured the more I can save the better....

THANKS AGAIN! You are sooooo awesome!
So... how tough is it to replace the defrost heater? I couldn't even see it at first since it was frozen. It's the one on the bottom kinda behind the coils and I had to feel for it but I couldn't "see" it.

Defrost the evaporator using a hair dryer and you'll be able to see it better. It should be under the coils.

Hello there Gene, I'm back with some questions, i purchased GE refrigerator Mother Board WR55x10656 that fits wr55x10552./ and GE wr55x10025 Refrigerator Temp Sensor Thermister x 2. My husband finally installed both parts yesterday about 9 p.m. The problem that we are coming up with is that the refrigerator is still not cooling. Is there a waiting period and if so How long? Or did he install something wrong since the mother board was slightly different. Please HELP!
thanks, Yolanda

Yolanda,
What was the condition of the evaporator coils prior to replacing those parts? Defrosted or frosted?
If he followed the installation instructions then it should be good. Does the fan in the freezer run?
Gene.
