I hope someone knows how to remove the spin basket nut. I soaked mine in Wd-40 and pounded it with the special spanner wrench, but it never budged.
I bought a universal wrench that doesn't fit that well, maybe the exact spanner wrench that GE recommends will work better. Any ideas please? I know it is a left hand thread! Also the washer is rather old, maybe 8 years old, plenty of time for the nut to rust to the tranny spindle!! Uh, I tried splitting the nut but it still is stuck.

Tried the same thing and was ready to give up. But was determined to get it off. Kept hitting the spanner wrench in the left thread direction and finally it moved a bit. I did have my son hold the basket as I pounded so it would not move. I got it off, now I am trying to figure how to separate the basket out as it does not just lift out
