Hi Gene,
Thanks for posting the drawing - it inspired me to keep looking for the issue.
I've now actually made some progress - I found the illusive wiring diagram! I read that quite a few manufacturers include a relevant diagram actually inside the unit, so I removed the wooden drawer-front facing from the upper drawer and there was a ziploc-type bag containing the document!
On reviewing the wiring schematic, it transpires that there actually is a separate "ice maker switch" on the SZ 700 series. So to cut a long, and personally embarrassing, story short, there is a push-to-close rocker switch that engages with the lip of the drawer's ice collection box when the drawer is pushed shut - it is completely hidden by the flap/plate that detects when the container is full with ice. Guess what - when I depressed it - I had power!
[Even writing this is painful - but I thought that my stoopidity might help out another 700 Series owner]
I still don't have ice - but in the course of trying to understand why I didn't have any power, I've done so much web-based research, I feel much better equipped to tackle the core issue!
It actually looks like the replacement i/m that I was sent is faulty - so I'll try a second one and keep my fngers crossed!
Thanks again for all of your help.
Dave

Well, not only is the fat lady in great voice, but she's enjoying a heavily iced Bacardi & Coke!!
It turns out the replacement unit was faulty - the replacement replacement works like a charm.
Gene, thanks so much for hanging in there with me - we'll be raising our (ice-filled) glasses to you this evening!
Best regards,
Dave
