My Jenn-air gas oven just stopped heating up on bake mode. The Broiler mantel lights up and works good. The bake mantel igniter lights up but no gas is coming out of the mantel. can someone give me some suggestions? Thanks Harold

The ignitor could be weak, if you had a clamp on amp meter you could test it.. To open the gas valve the ignitor has to pull 3.2 to 3.6 amps. Sometimes (when they are weak) you can get them to lite by very lightly tapping on the gas valve with the handle of a screwdriver. This would be after the ignitor had reached its maximum brightness. Its just a temporary test. Then you need to change out the ignitor. Whirlpool 12400035 Flat Style Oven Igniter Kit - AppliancePartsPros.com

Is it possible to test/replace the igniter without getting into the back of the oven?

The ignitor should glow so bright that you won't want to look at it.
I'd say that yours is bad. They don't cost too much, so order one and replace it and I'll bet your oven will work again.
Just be careful with the ignitors. They are very sensitive to vibration. Don't touch the part that glows (your skin oils will cause it to fail.)
Good luck with it. :)

Thanks! I measured the current with an inductive pickup and measured 2.14A at the igniter than does not work and 3.15A for the broiler mantel which works. I ordered the igniter so I should have it by saturday or so. I saw some other sources of the igniter and some have ceramic wire nuts instead of the connector. Is there a way to install the igniter using wire nuts so I dont need to pull the oven from its cabinet to access the connector
