Hi, Maytag Centennial MVWC400XW0, about 6 years old

When start is pressed, the lid locks, sensing lights green, it whirs a bit, then the lid unlocks and sensing flashes. Then nothing.

I've run the test mode, and it runs through the cycles just fine.

I've followed all the directions to get the error code and ALL lights flash twice - sensing, wash, rinse, spin, and done. (pause) Then repeats. I turn the knob, and sensing is lit which indicates that's the only code.

I swear, I'm no idiot but I can't seem to figure out what that means though - F what or E what... ??

Anybody have any insight??

Try to (reboot) reset the control board (computer). Unplug the power for at least 5 minutes. When you plug it in press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
Now try selecting a normal wash cycle and push the start button.

Thanks! I left it unplugged for about an hour earlier this afternoon and when I plugged it in, it ran through the whole wash cycle just fine. After that one time though, it went back to doing the same thing and not running again.

We've been fooling with it all day long... I got a different series of flashes a little while ago that indicated F5E1, which seems to be a lid locking error code. We're going to try replacing the latch and see what happens. *fingers crossed*

That does sound like the problem. Most of the time when the sensors can not detect the lid latch is locked you will get the flashing sensor light.
