My maytag atlantis washer doesn't spin out, pump works to pump water, agitator seems to work just no spin. Does this mean bad Trans as I am assuming?

Probably not the transmission. Most of the spin problems on this model are caused by a faulty thrust bearing, this part here. Part number: AP4009132
It is an easy repair and there is a video. It will be helpful to have a helper.

Tilt the machine back and rotate the large pulley by hand CCW while someone observes the agitator. If the agitator is going back and forth, then the transmission is bad.
