Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 2/18/2009(UTC) Posts: 2		When new, my oven used to overheat about a constant 50 degrees high. Now, my oven overheats by 75 to 125 degrees too high. Is this just a bad thermostat (part AP2127907)? In looking at the circuit diagram, I see four oven thermostats plus a security thermostat! I believe the security thermostat is part 318003600 which is a safety thermostat. Are the other 4 thermostats all part of AP2127907? Thanks for you help.

Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Senior Expert Joined: 12/2/2007(UTC) Posts: 769		The four thermostats shown in the circuit diagram are all the same part (AP2127907) as you correctly figured out. It is what cycles the elements to maintain a temperature. If you find the unit is consistently running hot, you may need to replace the part, but first look at the back of the thermostat and see if you find an access hole with an adjustment screw. You will need to play with it a bit to get it dialed in, but you may be able to keep this one running a bit longer.

The unit currently installed is by Robershaw, model RAC 12-209-18. I bought an oven thermometer and used that the last time we baked. I currently plan to use the thermometer to help insure proper thermostat settings. If that is easy to do, I'll live with what I have. If it gets to be a chore, I will replace the thermostat. Norm
