Defrost timer was not working so I am trying to replace the bimetal unit. But how do I get the wires out of the wire assembly unit so I can attach the bimetal wires?

I may have found the answer to my question- you dont mess w the wire assembly unit, but instead, splice and tape or get an insulated connector (tapslide) to join the new wire to the old one.
